A daylong interdisciplinary seminar on ‘Environment and Natural Resources: Human Necessity and Challenges’ was organised by the Department of Zoology at RKSD (PG) College here on Monday. As many as 400 research scholars from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan participated in the event.
Dr RK Sharma Dean of Colleges and Chairman, Department of Zoology, Kurukshetra University, stressed on water conservation and its judicious use in his keynote address. He said only one per cent water on earth was fit for human consumption and by 2025 over three billion people would face water crisis.
Dr SS Hundal from Department of Zoology, PAU, Ludhiana, said natural resources were depleting fast due to over exploitation, which could have a disastrous impact on human life.
