After the separation of her parents, she got raised by her mother along with her sister Karisma. She studied at Jamnabai Narsee school in Mumbai. Her high school was Welham Girls School in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. She then did business studies at Mithibai College in Vile Parle in Mumbai. She abandoned after a year to pursue a career in film.
She had a high-profile relationship with Shahid Kapoor from 2004 to 2007. Kareena Kapoor then married Saif Ali Khan on October 16, 2012. In 2009, we see her in the sides of Akshay Kumar in Kambakkht Ishq. The mixed success follows two failures. Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna with Salman Khan and Kurbaan alongside her companion Saif Ali Khan. But in late 2009, 3 Idiots with Aamir Khan became one of the biggest hits of Bollywood industry.
In 2010 released Milenge Milenge after a long production delay. It was a film shot alongside Shahid Kapoor and was a flop at the box office. The same year she runs alongside Kajol in We Are Family, which, had limited success. It brings her first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.
In 2011, Kareena Kapoor turns in Bodyguard with Salman Khan and Ra.One with Shahrukh Khan. In 2012 she acted in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu on the side of Imran Khan, which gets a critical and public success. In the same year, Kareena Kapoor turns in a spy movie alongside her companion in Agent Vinod. Despite a good opening at the box office, it was a flop. Yet her most ambitious project was Heroine by Madhur Bhandarkar. She replaced Aishwarya Rai as her pregnancy prevents the leading role.
She then played in the thriller Talaash: The Answer Lies Within by Reema Kagti. Here she performed as a prostitute along with Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherjee. In Satyagraha (2013) by Prakash Jha, she plays a strong and opinionated journalist. Her interpretation got appreciated by critics. Some praised her intense and realistic action. While others find the banal and too glamorous role to be convincing.
The film got inspired by the struggle of Anna Hazare against corruption. Considered simplistic and moralistic, it was one of the successes in the box office. In the same year, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein was an embarrassing failure in the box office. Kareena Kapoor appeared alongside Imran Khan.
These successes made Kareena Kapoor one of the highest paid actresses in Bollywood. In January 2013 she was in the top 100 Indian celebrities prepared by Forbes India. She was the first woman to finish in 7th spot. In 2014, she starred opposite Ajay Devgan and Anupam Kher in the action film Singham Returns. The film received good reviews and collected 1,568,700,000 rupees globally.
The following year she made a special appearance in Gabbar Is Back. Then she finds her sidekick Salman Khan in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Here she plays the role of a young Brahmin woman. The film break records at the box office. But the media and fans got disappointed indeed as Kareena's role was minimal. The actress closed the year with an item number in Brothers.
In 2016 the actress seems to have heard the call of her fans and she stars in the romantic comedy Ki and Ka. Here she played opposite Arjun Kapoor. The film was a commercial success. Besides her acting work, Kareena Kapoor was the face of the Globus ready-to-wear from 2007 to 2009. In 2012, she represented Lakme, Head and Shoulders and Monarch Universal.

Kareena Kapoor got blessed with a baby boy on 20 December 2016 at the Breach Candy Hospital. The baby got named Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi.
